Avon and Somerset Police are reporting success in an operation focussing on crimes involving motorbikes and mopeds.  Their clamp down on motorbike related anti-social behaviour (ASB) was in response to reports of increases in vehicle thefts, dangerous driving, robberies and threatening behaviour.   The police teams identified hotspots and offenders and then used a variety of means including intelligence, drones and CID to target the offenders.  This in turn led to 28 arrests and the recovery of 27 stolen motorbikes.

The police then go onto share their advice on deterring thieves:

1) Use disc locks with mini alarms

2) Install a GPS tracker and monitoring app

3) Chain the bike to something that cannot be moved

4) Park in a busy spot with CCTV

5) Record the VIN and etch it elsewhere on your bike
