We are always saddened to hear that someone has had their vehicle stolen. Equally we are always delighted to hear when an owner is reunited with their stolen property. In this Isle of Thanet News article, we were pleased to see that two were arrested in Broadstairs over a motorbike theft. The motorbike has since been recovered and returned to its owner. What we liked about this article was the advice by Inspector Ian Swallow of Thanet Community Safety Unit who shared the following advice:
“To reduce the chances of becoming a victim of this type of crime, we advise you park your bike out of sight, in a garage or secure back garden.
“Always lock, chain and cover your bike and if you have to leave it in a public place, find somewhere that is well-lit and, ideally, is overlooked and covered by CCTV.
“Also consider fitting a tracking device, so that we can locate and hopefully return the bike in the event that it is stolen.”
